The MULTITEL J300 series of machines are unique in several respects when compared with other makes of truck mounted access platform of a similar size.

Firstly, on all other makes of platform when the jib boom is fully opened, it reaches a positioin where it is in line with the main boom. On the MULTITEL, the jib boom rotates beyond this positioin by anoth 90 degrees. This gives the platforms the capability to work up behind an object or obstruction.

The second are where the MULTITEL J300 series platforms differ from other makes of platform is that in general the MULTITEL will have a greater portion of the total outreach from the jib boom as opposed to having the bulk of the outreach generated by the main boom.

This offers many within envelope advantages and allows the MULTITEL to do jobs that other machines cannot do. It also tends to mean that the MULTITEL will have more outreach at high level than most of the competitors machines, even if at low level it has the same or slightly less outreach.   

In general, large machines are for working at high level not at 5 to 10 metres high, so outreach at this level is in practice meaningless. The MULTITEL also has a full envelope over the top of the machine whereas others do not.
